MOON PHASES
Moon phases or the lunar cycle, is the time it takes for the Moon to pass through all eight of its main phases. This lunar cycle takes just under 30 days to complete, and is a representation of the Moon’s journey around the Earth. It is the Moon’s movement around the Earth while moving between the Earth and Sun that creates a shadow on the far side of the moon. This shadow limits the light that is reflected back to the Earth which is what makes the New Moon appear to grow larger each night until it reaches the Full Moon, when it then appears to grow smaller each night until it reaches the New Moon again. This lunar cycle is repeated over and over again. The eight different moon phases are the New Moon, Waxing Crescent, First Quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Full Moon, Waning Crescent, Last Quarter, and Waning Gibbous, which all have their own magic and energies.
